New York Dining at the VU hotel |
| |
The first-floor destination restaurant adjacent to the VU hotel celebrates regional cuisine prepared only with local food and produce. The earthy concept of the food juxtaposes with the edgy nature of the nearby Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, a contrast that is repeated in the dining room's use of natural and industrial materials. Walnut wood surfaces with accents of green mosaic and yellow tiles are reminiscent of Julia Morgan's mid-20th century California architecture, while coil drapery and copper tabletops illuminate the more industrial elements of the surrounding urban environment. With a menu featuring small plates and a contemporary, casual interior, the restaurant serves lunch and dinner daily.

Upstairs the juxtaposition continues: A large wooden deck terrace on the 15th floor rooftop bar of the hotel offers the perfect setting for sipping or nibbling while admiring the unobstructed views of Manhattan and the Hudson River. A reflecting pool mirrors the light from the lounge indoors and the sky overhead. Serving breakfast, light lunch and light dinner as well as contemporary cocktails, the rooftop lounge makes an ideal spot for any social gathering.
